Paper Shell

SUPPLIES

cardstock white, or cream
water color pencils light blues and greens
Perfect Pearls (Pearl)
glossy gel acrylic
die cuts (desired shapes and sizes)
adhesives
brushes

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. Layer and glue the card stock together to the desired thickness. Use a glue stick for the adhesive or dampen with water, then shape and mold the piece to resemble uneven shell.

Step 2. Using the water colored pencils or dye-based ink, lightly apply color to the piece.

Step 3. Make paint by mixing Perfect Pearls and water and paint over the colored piece. The paint will pick up the color and the piece will take on the look of shell. Allow this to dry.

Step 4. Paint the top of the piece with glossy gel acrylic and allow it to dry.

TIPS

To achieve several different variations, try using other luminous pigments such as Perfect Pearls Interference and Pastel colors.

I think using pastel colors makes this paper treatment look more realistic.
